Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I pay?
A: The option to pay will appear when your tutor creates the upcoming lesson. Once this happens, you should see the option to pay as follows:
  • - Log into the Parent Account.
  • - On the dashboard, click 'View' on the student account.
  • - Scroll past 'Progress' to 'Lessons'.
  • - Click 'View Details'.
  • - Enter your card details.
Q: I've just signed up, what do I do now?
A: Firstly, add your student account in your dashboard. After this, go onto 'Find a Tutor' and connect with any available tutor. If you'd just like to use our resources, go onto 'My Payments' and subscribe to BV+.
Q: When do I have to pay?
A: Payment is required before each session. If payment hasn't been made, then the invite link won't become available. Refunds and rearrangements are available if there are unforeseen circumstances.
Q: How do I join the session?
A: Since the session is between the Tutor and Student, the link to join is only available on the Student account under 'My Lessons'.
Q: I've paid for a session that I now can't attend, what should I do?
A: If you know you can't attend a lesson, send a message to your tutor to let them know. The tutor can then rearrange the paid session for a more suitable time. Cancellations have to be given with at least 24 hours notice.
If a lesson is canceled within 24 hours, payment will still be required for the lesson. If there are unforeseen circumstances (such as a bereavement), then a refund/rearrangement will be granted.
Q: I forgot to pay for my session and the time has now passed, what should I do?
A: If you have forgotten to pay for your session, and your tutor has followed the protocol (reminder 48 and 24 hours before), then payment will still be required. Some tutors may not require payment if it's the first time it's happened, however this is at the discretion of the tutor.

Tutor FAQ:

Q: A student has connected with me, what do I do?
A: Once your student has connected with you, you should arrange a consultation to get to know your new client. Understand where they're struggling, what exam board they're on and what slot they would like each week.
Q: How does creating lessons work?
A: Creating the lessons are pretty self explanatory. However, once you create the lesson this is when clients are able to pay. Aim to create lessons around one week beforehand. This gives parents/guardians enough time to pay for the lesson.
Q: My client hasn't paid for my lesson yet, what do I do?
A: If you've created the lesson around a week beforehand, and the client hasn't paid for their session around 48 hours before, you should send a reminder via messages. If this hasn't been paid you should also send another reminder at 24 hours before the session. This should stop any no-shows.
If you have ticked all these boxes (created the lesson in sufficient time, and sent a reminder for payment 48 and 24 hours beforehand), you are within your rights to require payment from your client. This is completely under your discretion, as some tutors may say they require payment if it happens twice).
Q: How do I withdraw my money?
A: Under 'My Payments' you should see your Balance. Underneath you need to 'connect your stripe account'. Follow the steps once you've clicked that and you then will be able to withdraw your balance.
Q: What should I do if a client wants to rearrange/cancel a session I've already created/they've already paid for?
A: If your client has let you know of this with greater than 24 hours notice, you can change the date of the lesson by clicking 'View' and 'Update Lesson'. If it's less than 24 hours to the session, you can use your own discretion as to whether you charge your client or rearrange/cancel as requested. However, if there are unforeseen circumstances within this 24 hour period (such as a bereavement), then a refund/rearrangement will be granted.
